A Constructivist Approach to Learning

THE AUTOMATA VIDEO

The Building Connections project embodies constructivist learning theory, empowering 15 diverse students to design and build a model of their school’s ongoing cafeteria construction as their end-of-term project. Initial observations of the real-world construction site sparked curiosity and questions. OUR JOURNEY: Building Connections
REFLECTIONOur community project, guided by Constructivist principles, united us with Lily Dalley to tackle the complex challenge of automata design. Initially, the project’s scope posed difficulties, but by embracing critical thinking and creativity, we overcame these hurdles and ensured seamless execution.
Dr. Tanya’s guidance was instrumental in our success, showcasing the impact of mentorship and expertise. This experience stood out due to its collaborative and interactive nature. By co-creating knowledge with Lily and community members, we fostered active participation, shared experiences, and enhanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Through this project, we gained a deeper understanding of Constructivism and its applications. Our collaborative approach enabled us to develop a profound comprehension of automata concepts, making it effortless to discuss and describe them.
